The last thing you want is to show up on test day unprepared. Having everything you need ahead of time isn’t just helpful, it’s essential. Here’s a breakdown of what to bring (and what to leave at home) so your experience at the IELTS Exam Center in Dubai goes off without a hitch.

Valid ID Document (Must have)

Leave the mechanical pencils and highlighters at home, they’re not allowed on the answer sheets. Water

Appropriate Clothing

Dress smart and comfortable. You’ll be seated for hours, so bring a light sweater or jacket in case the room runs cold. And remember, a photo will be taken for your official records, so dress neatly and respectfully.

Glasses or Earplugs

If you wear prescription glasses, bring them, but leave the case outside. Earplugs are generally not allowed, though most centers offer noise-reducing foam plugs upon request. If you’re doing the computer-based test, high-quality headphones will be provided for the Listening section.

Medication

For those with medical needs, like inhalers or prescribed medication, it’s best to inform the test center in advance. These items should be in clear bags, and you’ll need permission to access them during the exam. Transparency is key, literally and figuratively.

Travel light. That’s the golden rule on test day. Bringing extra items, especially the wrong ones can get you disqualified.

No phones, no smartwatches, no books, no notes. Even your keys and wallet must be stored away.
